چکیده

Gastric cancer is the third most frequent cause of cancer mortality in the world (Keeney et al., 2006). Although its incidence varies between different geographical areas of Iran (Malekzadeh et al., 2009), it is the leading cause of cancer-related mortality in Iran (The National Cancer Registry, 2008). The main environmental factors of gastric cancer in Iran are high H.pylori prevalence, high dietary concentration of salt and smoking (Malekzadeh et al., 2009). Moreover, conventional therapeutic methods do not provide any survival benefit for the majority of Iranian patients with gastric cancer because it is being diagnosed in advanced stages of the disease (Malekzadeh et al., 2009). Localized at chromosome 8q22, the human MTDH gene has been reported to be amplified in a number of malignancies such as malignant glioma (Kim et al., 1995), hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) (Poon et al., 2006), and breast cancer (Wang et al., 2005). Intriguingly, expression analysis in cell lines and in patient-derived tumor samples revealed that MTDH significantly elevated in breast carcinoma (Li et al., 2008), HCC (Yoo et al., 2009), neuroblastoma (Lee et al., 2009), and malignant glioma (Liu et al., 2010) cell lines and tumor samples compared with their normal counterparts. Furthermore, it has been reported that MTDH plays important roles in multiple biological processes in the course of tumorigenesis via modulating of multiple signalling pathways (Lee et al.,

Metadherin regulates actin cytoskeletal remodeling and enhances human gastric cancer metastasis via epithelial-mesenchymal transition

Metadherin (MTDH) can be recruited to mature tight junction complexes, and it regulates mesenchymal marker protein expression in many tumors and promote cancer metastasis. This study investigated the influence of MTDH expression on gastric cancer and to elucidate the potential mechanisms by which MTDH regulates actin cytoskeletal remodeling and enhances human gastric cancer metastasis via epith...

Investigation of Network of Proteins Effective in Esophageal, Gastric and Colon Cancers and Determination of Key Common Proteins Using In Silico Method

Introduction: The prevalence of gastrointestinal cancers, especially gastric and colorectal cancers, is increasing. Gastric cancer is the most common gastrointestinal cancer in Iran and the age of esophageal and colon cancers onset has decreased in Iran. Therefore, it is important to study the factors and proteins involved in these cancers. Use of computational tools is an effective way to stud...

Analyses of methylation status of CpG islands in promoters of miR-9 genes family in human gastric adenocarcinoma

In the recent years deregulation for microRNAs expression pattern have emerged as a possible molecular factor for carcinogenesis. It has been reported that the expression of miR-9 was down-regulated in human gastric adenocarcinoma. To figure out the molecular mechanism of this down regulation, the methylation status in promoters of miR-9 family loci were compared in the human gastric adenocarci...

بررسی بیان ژن اکسپورتین5 (XPO5) در بیماران مبتلا به سرطان پستان

Background and objectives: Deregulation in the expression of microRNAs is involved in the pathogenesis of various malignancies. Impaired microRNAs processing pathway is one possible mechanism for global deregulation of the miRNAs. Exportin 5 (XPO5) is a key member of this pathway that links nuclear and cytoplasmic steps of miRNAs biogenesis together. XPO5 deregulation has been reported in ...
